Hands-On Lab Requirements
In order to participate in the hands-on labs, you must have a laptop
PC with the following hardware and software:
- Minimum 100 mhz processor (200 mhz processor recommended for
the Java lab)
- 128 MB memory minimum (256 MB memory recommended for the Java
lab)
- TCP/IP installed/configured
- 10/100 mbps RJ45 ethernet connection
- 5250 emulation software that works over TCP/IP (either Client
Access Express, or a 5250 emulator that does not require any additional
software on the iSeries), configured to connect to AS400A at IP
address 10.1.0.1 and AS400B at IP address 10.1.0.2.
The cable connecting your laptop PC to the network will have a
male RJ45 connector to connect to your PC. Some of the older Ethernet
adapters also terminate with a male RJ 45 connector. If your Ethernet
connection has a male RJ45 connector, you will need to bring a male
RJ45 to male RJ45 inline connector.
The network connection from your laptop PC to the iSeries will
be through a 10/100 Ethernet switch and the IP addresses for your
laptop PC will be administered from the iSeries.
If your laptop PC is running Windows/NT, Windows/2000 or Windows/XP,
you MUST have a User ID and password that has Administrator authority
for your laptop. Even if your laptop is already setup for DHCP,
you should have this User ID and password in case any additional
changes are necessary.
We will have people who can assist you with the network setup,
but it is not possible to provide this assistance if the required
ID and password are not available. Ultimately it is the responsibility
of the attendee to be able to configure their laptop PC for lab
use. There will be an information sheet and technical assistance
available to help with lab set up on Sunday June 15, 2003 during
the on site conference registration from Noon to 5:00 pm.
We are planning to have 50 seats in the conference lab classroom
that will be available on a first-come first-serve basis, with priority
given to those people who attend the prerequisite lecture elective
session(s) prior to the lab. The actual number of seats available
will be dependent on total conference enrolment and the lab classroom
provided by the Registry hotel.
If you have questions regarding the hardware or set-up requirements,
please send an email note to debbiem@tramenco.com.
We will try our best to respond to you within 2 business days.
If you have any questions regarding the conference please call
us at 1- 800-897-5923, send a fax to 1-973-948-4178, or send an
email note to debbiem@tramenco.com. |
